Newspaper adds a layer of protection inside a packing box. Scrunch up the paper into balls and line the bottom of the box before packing your items. Place more scrunched up balls of paper on top of your items before closing the box. For added protection, stuff the balls of paper down the sides of the box to create a layer between your items and the wall of the box. Newspaper can also be used to wrap items for protection before they are placed in boxes. The news print can rub off on items, dirtying them.
